Christian Koren-Wiberg
Johann Christian Koren-Wiberg (born October 10, 1870 in Bergen ; † March 22, 1945 there ) was a Norwegian cultural historian and artist.
Life
As a painter, draftsman and graphic artist, Koren-Wiberg was a student of the Norwegian painters Frithjof Smith-Hald and Fredrik Kolstø . Study trips took him through Europe (Italy, France, the Netherlands) and the United States. From 1909 he opened and directed an arts and crafts school in Bergen. At the same time he was director of the Hanseatic Museum in Bergen, founded by his father Johan Wilhelm Wiberg . Bergen owes him the preservation of Bryggen , where he also carried out extensive archaeological excavations at the beginning of the 20th century. In his numerous cultural-historical writings from 1899 he dealt intensively with the history of the mountain riders in Bergen.
