Fredrik Kolstø
Ole Fredrik Kolstø , also Kolstö (born March 5, 1860 in Haugesund , † April 2, 1945 in Trondheim ) was a Norwegian painter.
Life
Fredrik Kolstø first attended the painting school of Knud Bergslien in Kristiania and then studied from 1877 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Wilhelm von Lindenschmit . In 1880 he was awarded the Academy's Silver Medal there. In 1881 Kolstø was again active in Norway and created his painting Fischmarkt in Bergen ( Oslo National Gallery ). He stayed in Paris several times in the 1880s and in 1886 received a state scholarship for a stay in Italy. In 1887 he returned to Norway and initially worked in Bergen, where he also ran a painting school. In 1895 he moved to Oslo. His paintings are in the museums of Bergen, Oslo and Trondheim. Before the First World War, Kolstø was represented internationally at exhibitions in Europe and the United States. From around 1920 he restricted his work.
