Christian Ludwig von Wangenheim

Christian Ludwig von Wangenheim († May 1, 1794 in Tournai ) was an electoral Braunschweig-Lüneburg Major General and Chief of Infantry Regiment No. 9-A .

origin

His parents were Johann Otto Ernst von Wangenheim (* 1693; † July 25, 1768) and his wife Christine Auguste Elisabeth von Röder.

Life

During the Seven Years' War he came into service with the Infantry Regiment Sachsen-Gotha in Hanover and was taken over as a captain with a patent on January 31, 1759 in the Kurhannoversche army . On December 1, 1762 he became a major in the von Behr cavalry regiment . In 1776 he was transferred to the Bremer cavalry regiment . There he became lieutenant colonel on February 11, 1782 and colonel on July 30, 1786. In 1786 he joined the Hanoverian troops in India , who fought for the British East India Company there . He replaced Colonel Christian August von Wangenheim after he had fallen out with Commander-in-Chief Carl Ludwig Reinbold. He survived his deployment in India and returned with the troops in November 1792. He was made major general on February 28, 1793 and chief of Infantry Regiment No. 9-A. He died in the First Coalition War on May 1, 1794 in Tournai.

family

In 1793 he married Amalie Sophie Elisabeth von Hardenberg (* April 2, 1767, † November 24, 1848), a daughter of Field Marshal Christian Ludwig von Hardenberg . The couple also had one son: Paul August Friedrich Georg (1794–1796).

The widow later married Count Adolph Franz Carl von Seckendorff .
