Christian Nicolaus Bruhn

Christian Nicolaus Bruhn (born January 25, 1796 in Esgrus ; † February 9, 1863 ) was an Evangelical Lutheran theologian in Schleswig-Holstein.

He studied in Kiel and worked in Dagebüll (1822-1827), Drelsdorf (1827-1837) and Bornhöved (from 1837) as a pastor , and made a name for himself as the founder of workhouses . For his work he was made a Knight of the Dannebrog Order in 1836 . His writing Address to the Insten and Day Laborers in the Landdistricten of the Duchy of Holstein , with which he called for peace and order in the revolutionary year of 1848, attracted particular attention .
