Christian Niemeyer (social worker)

Christian Niemeyer (born March 1, 1952 in Hameln ) is a German social pedagogue , psychologist and Nietzsche researcher . He is a retired professor at the Technical University of Dresden .

Life

Christian Niemeyer studied pedagogy at the University of Münster (diploma 1978) and psychology at the Free University of Berlin (diploma 1982). He received his doctorate in 1980 at the University of Münster Dr. phil. He habilitated in 1987 at the University of Berlin in Education with his habilitation for professionalization theory . From 1979 to 1986 Niemeyer was a research associate at the Free University of Berlin, from 1987 to 1989 a private lecturer there , before he was offered a C 2 professorship for social education there. The end of 1992 followed reputation on a C4 Professorship for Social focused on "education" and "education in early childhood" at the Institute of Social Education, Social Work and Welfare Studies of the Technical University of Dresden . He has been a retired professor since October 1, 2017.

Important works are his book Klassiker der Sozialpädagogik. Introduction to the theoretical history of a science (1998), the Nietzsche lexicon published by him (2009) and the critical overall presentation of the dark sides of the youth movement. From Wandervogel to Hitler Youth (2013).

Niemeyer has been the managing editor of the journal for social pedagogy that he founded since 2003 . He was a member of the German Society for Educational Science (1980–2012) and the Nietzsche Society (1994–2012).

Christian Niemeyer is the nephew of the CDU state politician Günther Niemeyer from Lower Saxony .
