Christian Otto (* 1948 in Limbach , Chemnitz district ; † August 4, 2006 in Plau am See , Parchim district ) was a German politician ( PDS ) and a member of the Brandenburg state parliament from October 2004 until his death .

Life and work

Christian Otto was born in Limbach near Chemnitz in 1948 . From 1965 to 1967 he completed vocational training as a chemical technician and then served for three years with the NVA . From 1970 to 1973 he studied automation technology at the engineering school for mining and energy "Ernst Thälmann" in Senftenberg and graduated as an MSR engineer. From 1973 to 1974 he was a research engineer at VEB Preßstoffwerk Spremberg “Dr. Erani ” .

From 1974 to 1989 he worked in various functions in the SED party apparatus . He first studied at the district party school and later became a teacher here. He then studied social sciences at the Karl Marx party college from 1978 and graduated in 1981 with a degree in social science. From 1982 he worked as an employee and economic secretary of the SED district leadership in the forest district .

After the reunification he worked as full-time chairman of the SED-PDS Forst until 1991. He then carried out various activities until 2004. During this time he was, among other things, production manager and specialist consultant in building construction.

Christian Otto was married and had two children.

Christian Otto was a member of the SED, the PDS since 1989 and the Left Party.PDS from July 2005 .

In 1990 he became a member of the Spree-Neisse district council and from 1998 he was also a member of the Forst (Lausitz) city ​​council .

In 2002 Otto lost to Gerhard Reinfeld (CDU) in the mayor's runoff election.

In the 2004 state elections , he was directly elected as a member of the Brandenburg state parliament for the fourth electoral term in the Spree-Neisse I state constituency. He was a member of the Labor, Social, Health and Family Committee and the Economic Committee . He was also the labor market policy spokesman for his group.

When he died on August 4, 2006 after a stroke , Wolfgang Thiel replaced him in the state parliament.
