Christian Springer (born July 15, 1971 in Forchheim ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach .
Athletic career
The left, mostly defensive, midfielder learned his skills at his youth clubs Baiersdorfer SV and SpVgg Jahn Forchheim . He then played with SpVgg Jahn Forchheim in the national league. Then he moved to the Bayern League to TSV Vestenbergsgreuth and SC 08 Bamberg before returning to Forchheim. There he made promotion to the Bayern League, where he was still in use in the preliminary round of the 1994/95 season.
During the 1994/95 season he moved to FC St. Pauli , for whom he played four games in his first season in the 2nd Bundesliga . In the following two seasons he continued to assert himself as a regular player in the Bundesliga team . Following another season in the 2nd Bundesliga with a narrowly missed promotion, he moved to the relegated Bundesliga 1. FC Köln at the beginning of the 1998/99 season . After a disappointing first season, he developed into an important main component of the promotion team in the following season 1999/2000. After two more seasons in the Bundesliga, in which he continued to establish himself as a fixture in the team, he had to accompany his club back to the 2nd Bundesliga.
Three more seasons followed, in which he was able to celebrate his fourth promotion to the Bundesliga after being promoted again and subsequently relegated. In contrast to the first Cologne promotion season, however, Springer had lost the status of the regular regular player to changing competition in the midfield. Nevertheless, he was always valued for his flexibility in midfield and headball strength after standard situations.
His contract with 1. FC Köln ran until the end of the 2005/06 season. The contract was not renewed; 1. FC Köln said goodbye to it at the last home game of the season. Springer ended his footballing career. For the time being, Springer rejected the idea of further employment in a different function in the association and opted for the free economy. From August 2006 Springer worked as Manager Staff Sports and is now active in the paper trade. As part of the traditional Effzeh team , he keeps in touch with the Cologne team .
Coaching career
Christian Springer earned his first spurs in the coaching business as the assistant coach of Janos Radoki at the U-19s of SpVgg Greuther Fürth . In February 2017, the coach prematurely took over the 1st team of SpVgg Jahn Forchheim , after the start in his hometown was only planned for the start of the 2017/18 season .
