Christian Steinwerth

Christian Stein Werth (* 1976 / 1977 ) is a German basketball coach .

Life

Steinwerth's coaching career began in Wolmirstedt , where he worked until 2006. In the 2006/07 season he was the head coach of the men's team of the BG Magdeburg in the 1st regional league, from 2007 to 2009 he worked at the Magdeburg-based sports school of the Saxony-Anhalt basketball association and looked after the base clubs . In 2010 he took up the post of regional coach for the basketball association of Saxony-Anhalt. In addition to his work for the association, Steinwerth was also employed as a coach at club level, including in the youth division of SV Halle and in the 2009/10 and 2013/14 seasons as a coach of the boys' teams of Central German BC in the youth basketball league (JBBL) and 2014/15 as well as again in spring 2016 in the youth basketball league (NBBL). From May 2016 Steinwerth was René Spandauw's co-trainer for the Bundesliga women of SV Halle Lions and still the state trainer for Saxony-Anhalt. When Halle parted ways with Spandauw at the beginning of December 2017, Steinwerth became head coach. He could not prevent the Bundesliga relegation of the indoor women, which was established in March 2018.

In mid-April 2018, Steinwerth was introduced as the new trainer and sports director of the joint junior academy of the Wolfpack Wolfenbüttel and Eintracht Braunschweig clubs . As part of this position, he took on the role of coach, among other things, taking care of the game community in the female youth basketball division (WNBL). At the same time he was assistant coach of the Braunschweig women's Bundesliga team. In May 2019 he took up the position of head coach for the women of Eintracht Braunschweig, who had withdrawn from the first to the second Bundesliga after the end of the 2018/19 season. In addition to his work in Lower Saxony, Steinwerth worked for the German Basketball Association in the summer of 2019 and was an assistant coach on the staff of the U20 women's national team at the European Championship. As early as 2018, he was also the national coach of the German youth teams for girls and boys in the 3-on-3 basketball game . In the 2019/20 season, which ended early due to the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in mid-March 2020, Steinwerth and the Braunschweiger women were in first place in the 2nd Bundesliga North when the league management announced the end of the season.
