Christian Switak (born May 30, 1971 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ).

education and profession

After finishing primary school in Dreiheiligen, Christian Switak graduated from the lower level of the Academic Gymnasium in Innsbruck. He attended the upper level at the Bundesoberstufenrealgymnasium and graduated from the gymnasium for working people . In 1993 he completed his military service in the Tyrolean military command. He began studying psychology at the Leopold-Franzens University , which he dropped out. Since February 1, 2015, Switak has been one of two managing directors of the non-profit housing association "wohnungseigentum ".

politics

In 1997 Switak started in the ÖVP federal party in the politics department and dealt with the position of the ÖVP on sports policy. In the same year he switched to the organization and advertising department as a consultant, which he took over after the 1999 National Council election. After the National Council election in 2002, which was successful for the ÖVP, he moved to the cabinet of the Federal Minister for National Defense Günther Platter and became head of cabinet. In 2007 he followed Interior Minister Günther Platter to the Federal Ministry of the Interior , again as head of cabinet.

On 1 July 2008 Switak was the Tyrolean state parliament in the Tyrolean provincial government Platter I selected. His departments included finance, human resources, spatial planning and building law, citizenship matters, public relations, administration of the state's real estate, Tyrolean land funds, city and townscape protection, state vehicle administration, statistics, census systems, the sale and encumbrance of real estate in the state, conclusion of state contracts with special financial impact, financial constitution, financial equalization, civil status, foundation and fund management.

In November 2011 Switak came under fire when he was accused by the media and the opposition of renting an apartment on very favorable terms that belongs to an operator of lifts, who in turn is said to have received payments from Switak's department. On February 21, 2012, Switak's name appeared in connection with hunting invitations from Telekom Austria in 2007, whereupon Switak drew the consequences on February 24 and announced that he would resign from all his political functions. On March 8, Johannes Tratter succeeded him in the role of regional councilor .

At the end of March 2013, the Corruption Prosecutor announced the end of the investigation. According to the public prosecutor, the allegations against Switak proved to be baseless.
