Christian Tarnai

Christian Tarnai (born November 25, 1946 in Vienna ) is an Austrian social scientist.

Life

He studied psychology, philosophy and anthropology at the University of Vienna and at the University of Graz with psychology as a major and mathematics and philosophy as minor subjects. After receiving his doctorate in psychology in 1973 with a contribution to the revision of the personality and interest test by Mittenecker & Toman, he was a research assistant at the German Institute for International Educational Research ( DIPF ) in Frankfurt, working group for educational resumes and lecturer for multivariate methods at the institute in 1973/1974 for psychology at the TH Darmstadt . From 1975 to 1978 he was a research assistant at the German Institute for Scientific Education (DIP) in Münster, Research and Experiment Department. From 1978 he was a research assistant in the Department of Educational Psychology and Empirical Pedagogy of the Institute for Educational Science, University of Münster and lecturer in psychological statistics at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . After his habilitation in 1991 in Münster for educational science, he taught from 1993 to 1996 as a professor for psychological methodology in the psychology department of the Justus Liebig University in Gießen (temporary appointment). In the academic year 1997/1998 he was visiting professor in the winter semester at the Institute for Educational Science in Graz for Educational Psychology and in the summer semester at the Institute for Educational Science at the University of Salzburg for Educational Science . Since July 1, 1998, he has been Professor of Social Science Methodology at the Institute for Sociology and Social Policy in the Faculty of Education at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich . Visiting professor for educational science at the Institute for Pedagogy and Psychology at the University of Linz and lecturer for educational psychology at the University of Vienna. He has been retired since April 1, 2012. In the summer semester 2015 he was a lecturer (lecturer) at the University of Salzburg, Department of Political Science and Sociology, Department of Sociology and Cultural Studies.

Since 1961 he has been a member of the Catholic student association KAV Bajuvaria Vienna in the ÖCV .
