Christian W. Schulz

Christian Walterssohn Schulz (born March 9, 1967 in Vienna ) is an Austrian cellist with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and a freelance conductor .

Education and family

Christian W. Schulz studied cello and conducting at the Vienna University of Music ( University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna ) .

Christian Schulz has been married to Marianne Schulz since 1990.

Musical activities

  • 1986 debut as a soloist in the Wiener Musikverein .
  • 1990–1993 member of the Vienna Volksoper .
  • Lecturer of the Vienna Jeunesse Orchestra .
  • Member of the Wiener Symphoniker since 1993
  • Since 1995 conducting at home and abroad with choir and orchestra.
  • Guest conductor of the Vienna Sinfonietta
  • 1997 co-founding of the Ambassade Orchestra Vienna
  • Since 2000 Principle Conductor of the Festival Sinfonietta Linz.
  • Since 2003 first guest conductor of the Arad State Philharmonic in Romania
  • Since 2006 chief conductor of the Mozart Collegium Vienna
  • Since 2010 general music director of the music program at OKF Tehran
  • Since 2014 managing director of Symphonia - Wiener Symphoniker Tonaufnahme ges.mbh
  • Since 2016 musical director of the EntArteOpera
  • Since 2016 professor of conducting and opera studio at the Richard Wagner Conservatory in Vienna
