Christian Wilhelm Kestner

Christian Wilhelm Kestner (born June 18, 1694 in Kindelbrück , Thuringia, † May 15, 1747 ) was a German physician and bibliographer.

Kestner attended grammar school in Weißenfels , initially studied theology in Jena , but broke off this course and switched to medicine (studies in Jena, Leipzig and finally in Halle ). There he received his doctorate in 1719. Due to his decided aversion to the medical profession and his preference for literary and historical studies, he worked exclusively as a specialist writer and bibliographer and gave a. a. A medical scholarly lexicon in Jena in 1740 and a Bibliotheca medica in 1746 .
