Christian Wilhelm Ketterlinus
Christian Wilhelm Ketterlinus (born December 24, 1766 in Stuttgart , † May 18, 1803 in St. Petersburg ) was a German engraver .
Life
Christian Wilhelm Ketterlinus learned copper engraving from Johann Gotthard Müller . He was initially in Stuttgart, from 1799 as a court copper engraver in St. Petersburg. Probably from his time at the High School Karl , which he joined in 1780, dates back to a back glass etching entitled The young Schiller leads on the Karlsschule his Duke Charles before . It probably shows Schiller and a classmate wearing a woman's robe and a broom, as they parody the sovereign and Franziska von Hohenheim - who come in person to the door at that very moment and witness the disrespectful events. It is not known whether this incident actually took place.
