Abuyog is a Filipino municipality in the province of Leyte on the island of Leyte . It has 59,571 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who live in 63 barangays . The community is described as partially urban . Abuyog is located approx. 62 km south of the provincial capital Tacloban City and can be reached within 35 minutes by bus via the Maharlika Highway, which runs along the coast . Parts of the Kuapnit Balinsasayaw National Park are in the municipality's territory.
