Babatngon is a Filipino municipality in the province of Leyte on the island of Leyte . It has 27,797 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who live in 25 barangays . The community is described as partially urban and belongs to the fourth income bracket of communities in the Philippines. Their neighboring communities are Tacloban City in the south and San Miguel in the southwest. In the north the municipality borders on the Bay of Carigara and in the east on the San Juanico Strait , which separates Leyte from the island of Samar .
