Palo is a Filipino municipality in the province of Leyte on the island of Leyte . It has 70,052 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who live in 33 barangays . The community is described as partially urban and belongs to the third income bracket of the communities in the Philippines. Its neighboring communities are Pastrana in the west, Tacloban City in the north, and Santa Fe in the northwest and Tanauan in the south. Palo borders the Gulf of Leyte to the east and lies in the coastal region of the Leyte-Sab-a-Basin .
