Alangalang is a Filipino municipality in the province of Leyte on the island of Leyte . It has 55,235 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who live in 54 barangays . The community is described as partially urban and belongs to the second income bracket of the communities in the Philippines. Their neighboring communities are Barugo and San Miguel in the north, Pastrana in the south, Tacloban City in the northeast, Santa Fe in the east and Jaro in the west. Alangalang's economy is mainly determined by agriculture and is located in the fertile Leyte-Sab-a-Basin .
