Tolosa is a Filipino municipality in the province of Leyte on the island of Leyte . It has 20,978 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who live in 15 barangays . The community is described as partially urban and belongs to the fifth income bracket of the communities in the Philippines. Their neighboring communities are Tabontabon in the west, Tanauan in the north and Dulag in the south. Tolosa borders the Gulf of Leyte to the east and can be reached from Tacloban City via the Maharlika Highway .
An extensive marshland in the Leyte-Sab-a-Basin extends northwest of the municipality . There is a Visayas State University campus in the community .
