The Bundorfer Forest is located northwest of the eponymous municipality of Bundorf . The community-free area is traversed by the young Baunach . The highest point in the community-free area is the Balzerstein at 493  m above sea level. NN .

In the area of ​​the Bundorf Forest, in the valley of the Auerbach between the small Haßberg and the Steinrangen, are the remains of a late medieval or modern Landwehr . It stretches about 350 meters from north to south in the lowland. The Landwehr consists of a 4 meter wide and approximately one meter high wall, which is preceded by a 4 meter wide trench on the east side. The areas of the state forest and that of the private forest of Baron von Truchseß bordered on this Landwehr . Today it is a protected ground monument .
