Villaba is a Filipino municipality in the province of Leyte on the island of Leyte . It has 41,891 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who live in 35 barangays . The community is described as partially urban and belongs to the third income bracket of the communities in the Philippines. Their neighboring communities are Tabango in the north, Kananga in the east and Matag-ob in the south. To the west, the community borders the Camotes Sea across from the island of Cebu .

There is a Visayas State University campus in the community .
