Thomas Bines

Thomas Bines (* in Trenton , New Jersey , †  April 9, 1826 in Lower Penns Neck , New Jersey) was an American politician . In 1814 and 1815 he represented the state of New Jersey in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Thomas Bines attended public schools in his home country. In 1802 he was appointed official coroner in Salem County ; from 1808 to 1810 he was in this district as sheriff head of the police department. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Republican Party founded by Thomas Jefferson .

After the death of Congressman Jacob Hufty , Bines was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC when he was due by-election for the sixth seat of New Jersey , where he took up his new mandate on November 2, 1814. Since he renounced another candidacy in the regular elections of 1814 , he could only end the current legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1815 . During this time the British-American War ended .

From 1822 Thomas Bines was justice of the peace in Lower Penns Neck. He held this office until his death on April 9, 1826.
