William Raworth Cooper

William Raworth Cooper (born February 20, 1793 in Bridgeport , Gloucester County , New Jersey , †  September 22, 1856 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1839 and 1841 he represented the state of New Jersey in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Cooper attended public schools in his home country and then worked in agriculture. He became a member of the Democratic Party . He was subsequently elected to the New Jersey General Assembly .

In the congressional elections of 1838 Cooper was elected for the second seat of New Jersey in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded John Bancker Aycrigg on March 4, 1839 . Until March 3, 1841, he was able to complete a legislative period in Congress . After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, Cooper withdrew from politics. In the following years he worked again in agriculture and died on September 22, 1856 near his hometown Bridgeport.
