Henry Crosby Allen (born May 13, 1872 in Paterson , New Jersey , †  March 7, 1942 in Mystic , Connecticut ) was an American politician . Between 1905 and 1907 he represented the state of New Jersey in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Henry Allen attended both private and public schools in his home country. After that he was at St. Paul's School in Garden City on Long Island until 1889 . He then studied until 1893 at Yale University . After studying law at the New York Law School and being admitted to the bar in 1895, he began working in this profession in Paterson. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party .

In the congressional elections of 1904 , Allen was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the sixth constituency of New Jersey , where he succeeded William Hughes on March 4, 1905 . Since he renounced another candidacy in 1906, he could only complete one term in Congress until March 3, 1907 . After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Allen practiced again as a lawyer in Paterson. Between 1926 and 1935 he was a postman there . He died on March 7, 1942 while visiting his daughter in Connecticut. Henry Allen found his final resting place in Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Paterson.
