Le Gage Pratt

Le Gage Pratt (born December 14, 1852 in Sterling , Worcester County , Massachusetts , †  March 9, 1911 in Newark , New Jersey ) was an American politician . Between 1907 and 1909 he represented the state of New Jersey in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Le Gage Pratt attended public schools in his home country. Since 1869 he worked in Boston in trade. He later moved to Chicago with his parents , where he worked in the newspaper industry from 1884 to 1886. In the following years until 1897 Pratt worked in Texas , Illinois and Minnesota in the life insurance industry. He then moved to East Orange , New Jersey. From 1903 he worked for an insurance company in Newark, in which he rose to Vice President.

Politically, Pratt was a member of the Democratic Party . In the congressional elections of 1906 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the eighth constituency of New Jersey , where he succeeded William H. Wiley on March 4, 1907 . Since he lost to Wiley in 1908, he was only able to serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1909 . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Pratt returned to insurance. He was responsible for the in Providence resident Puritan Life Insurance Co. operates. He died on March 9, 1911 in Newark, where he was also buried.
