Samuel G. Wright

Samuel Gardiner Wright (born November 18, 1781 in Wrightstown , Burlington County , New Jersey , †  July 30, 1845 in Imlaystown , New Jersey) was an American politician . In 1845 he represented the state of New Jersey in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Samuel Wright acquired his school knowledge largely through self-study. Later he worked in Philadelphia ( Pennsylvania ) on the market. He then went into the iron business in New Jersey and Delaware . He also ran a farm. Politically, he became a member of the Whig Party .

In the congressional election of 1844 Wright was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the second constituency of New Jersey , where he succeeded George Sykes on March 4, 1845 . He was no longer able to exercise his mandate because he died on July 30, 1845, before the constituent session of the Congress. When by-election was due, his predecessor Sykes was also elected as his successor.
