Michael A. "Mike" Ferguson (born June 22, 1970 in Ridgewood , New Jersey ) is an American politician . Between 2001 and 2009 he represented the state of New Jersey in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Michael Ferguson attended the Delbarton School in Morristown . He then studied first at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana and then at Georgetown University in Washington, DC He then worked as a teacher. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Republican Party .

In the 2000 congressional election , Ferguson was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington in the seventh constituency of New Jersey, where he succeeded Bob Franks on January 3, 2001 . After three re-elections, he was able to complete four legislative terms in Congress until January 3, 2009 . During his time as a congressman, the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 , the Iraq war and the military operation in Afghanistan fell . Ferguson served intermittently on the Finance Committee , the Transportation Committee , the Committee on Small Business, and the Committee on Energy and Trade . He was considered a moderate Republican in Congress. In 2008 he decided not to run again.

After leaving the US House of Representatives, Mike Ferguson became chairman of the board of the Washington-based consulting firm Ferguson Strategies LLC . He is married and lives in New Providence .
