Frank Joseph Guarini (born August 20, 1924 in Jersey City , New Jersey ) is a former American politician . Between 1979 and 1993 he represented the state of New Jersey in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Frank Guarini attended Lincoln High School until 1942 . He then trained as a Navy officer at Columbia University . In the final stages of World War II he served in the United States Navy on board the USS Mount McKinley . He then continued his education until 1947 with a study at Dartmouth College in Hanover ( New Hampshire ). After a subsequent law degree at various universities and his license to practice law in 1951, he began to work in this profession in Jersey City. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1965 and 1972 he was a member of the New Jersey Senate .

In the 1978 congressional election , Guarini was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 14th constituency of New Jersey , where he succeeded Joseph A. LeFante on January 3, 1979 . After six re-elections, he was able to complete seven legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 1993 . In 1992 his district was dissolved. He declined to run in another district and resigned from Congress on January 3, 1993. After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, Guarini withdrew from politics.
