Paul J. Moore

Paul John Moore (born August 5, 1868 in Newark , New Jersey , †  January 10, 1938 there ) was an American politician . Between 1927 and 1929 he represented the state of New Jersey in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Paul Moore attended public schools in his home country as well as St. Benedict's College . On November 1, 1892, he began a career with the Newark City Fire Department . Moore remained active in the fire service until August 1924. When he left the fire brigade, he was a chief machinist. In the following years he traded in fire-fighting equipment. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party .

In the 1926 congressional elections , Moore was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the eighth constituency of New Jersey , where he succeeded Herbert W. Taylor on March 4, 1927 . Since he was defeated by Republican Fred A. Hartley in 1928 , he was only able to serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1929 . After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Moore returned to working as a fire-fighting agent in Newark, where he died on January 10, 1938.
