Henry C. Loudenslager

Henry Clay Loudenslager (born May 22, 1852 in Mauricetown , Cumberland County , New Jersey , †  August 12, 1911 in Paulsboro , New Jersey) was an American politician . Between 1893 and 1911 he represented the state of New Jersey in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In 1856, Henry Loudenslager moved with his parents to Paulsboro, where he attended public schools. Between 1872 and 1882 he worked in Philadelphia in commission trading. He then began a political career in New Jersey as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1882 and 1892 he was employed as a county clerk in the Gloucester County administration.

In the congressional elections of 1892 Loudenslager was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the first constituency of New Jersey , where he succeeded Christopher A. Bergen on March 4, 1893 . After nine re-elections, he could remain in Congress until his death on August 12, 1911 . During this time the Spanish-American War of 1898 fell . From 1895 he was chairman of the Committee on Pensions .
