Baybay City is a Philippine city ​​( Component City ) in the province of Leyte .

Baybay has an area of ​​460.50 km². The city is located on the west coast of the province of Leyte. Baybay City belongs to the area of ​​climate type 4 according to the Philippine climate classification . Baybay is through the ratification of Republic Act no. 9389 in a referendum on 16 June 2007 by a township ( municipality ) to a provinzangehörigem City ( Component City has been raised). Baybay is the third city in the province of Leyte.

Population structure and development

According to the NSCO 2002 report , Baybay had 99,689 inhabitants, an increase compared to the population of 82,281 in 1990. In 2000, the 23 barangays of the main town had 17,391 inhabitants, 82,289 lived in the 69 “rural” barangays.
