Christiane (singer)
Christiane , real Christiane Dreuth or today Christiane Batel , is a German singer . She became known around 1970 as a Christian child star .
History and life
Christiane grew up in Rechtenbach in Hüttenberg in central Hesse and sang in the Wetzlar children's choir under the direction of Margret Birkenfeld when she was discovered. In search of a Christian counterpart to the Dutch child star Heintje , she was brought out in 1969 at the age of 14 by publisher Hermann Schulte and his publisher, today's Gerth Medien , as child soprano Christiane . Her self-titled debut album was arranged and produced by various greats of the Christian music scene such as Margret Birkenfeld, Klaus Heizmann , Johannes Nitsch and Siegfried Fietz and accompanied by a large orchestra and studio choir under the direction of Klaus Heizmann. She sang mainly sacred folk songs , but also classical hymns and modern gospel songs .
The lavish first work was followed by the Christmas concept Zu Bethlehem Born in 1970 , a quieter album with minimalist arrangements, including purely instrumental titles with organist Peter van Woerden as well as Danilo van Woerden and Margret Birkenfeld (flute and violin).
Father, we thank you was released in 1971 and, like the first album, presented itself with richer accompaniment by instruments and choir; this time it was her young fellow singers from the Wetzlar Children's Choir .
Furthermore, Christiane also appeared on productions of her producers, here mostly with full name, e.g. B. on records of the Wetzlar Children's Choir , to which she still belonged, as one of its soloists, such as on the LP Vater Martin (1977, since 2001 on CD).
Christiane Dreuth later studied singing with Uta Speckelsen at the University of Music at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster and with Theo Altmeyer at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media . Since 1975 she has participated in theater productions , song recitals and festivals . Today she lives as a music teacher in Berlin, is married as Christiane Batel and has one child. She remains particularly committed to sacred music, especially Johann Sebastian Bach's compositional work. A special comeback within the scene began in 2011 with the first nostalgia concert in the Unvergessen series - songs that remain with interpreters of Christian music from the 1950s and 60s , to which Christiane Batel, as a former child star of the scene, has been invited repeatedly.
The publishing house Gerth Medien published a selection of the children's voice in 2002 as part of the series Rückblick .
