Christiane Funke

Christiane Funke (born December 31, 1944 in Reichenberg ; † February 28, 2008 in Neustrelitz ) was a German teacher and painter. During the time of political change in the GDR , she was politically active in the SPD and represented this party in 1990 as a member of the last People's Chamber of the GDR .

Life

Funke was born in Reichenberg, Bohemia, in 1944. After the expulsion of the German population from Czechoslovakia it verschlug Funke's family to Mecklenburg . There she attended school in Setzin from 1951, which she left in 1960. This was followed by a visit to a technical school and later to the Institute for Teacher Training in Templin . Until 1974, Funke studied art education at the University of Education in Erfurt and graduated as a qualified teacher . After completing his studies, Funke returned to Mecklenburg and got a job as a teacher at the POS Karl Marx in Neustrelitz. After the political change, Funke moved to the well-known Carolinum grammar school in Neustrelitz, where she worked until she fell ill.

Political career

Funke became a member of the SPD during the political change in the GDR. At the first free Volkskammer elections on March 18, 1990, she took second place on the list for the SPD in the Neubrandenburg constituency. Since the SPD was able to win three seats there, Funke moved into the last GDR parliament as a member. Nothing is known about a later political engagement.
