Christiane Lesch (born 1940 in Kiel ) is a German illustrator and painter who is best known for her children's book illustrations.

Live and act

Lesch grew up in Kiel and Erlangen . After graduating from high school, she studied graphic design in Nuremberg from 1959 to 1963 . After starting a family and taking care of her three children, she began to publish her first book illustrations and children's books in 1975. Since 1985 there have also been graphic works and free painting. Her oil and acrylic paintings are non-representational and - according to the painter herself - not created out of the idea "to mirror the external world or to project mental processes." Rather, she leaves forms, spaces, harmonies and contrasts out of the play of Colors emerge. Image titles such as “Out of Abundance”, “Shifting the Horizons” or “Crystalline Conversation” are intended to give the viewer an impulse to examine the image. Other forms of work such as prints and etchings sometimes have more representational motifs.

Lesch was represented as an artist by Galerie Königsblau, Stuttgart until it was closed in 2009. Her book illustrations were mainly published by the Freie Geistesleben publishing house . She lives in Stuttgart.
