Christine Höger

Christine Höger (born April 19, 1901 in Oberschwärzenbach , Griesbach in the Rottal district , † February 4, 1982 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Christine Höger was the daughter of a master shoemaker and attended an elementary school in Tettenweis . In 1920 she came to Berlin as a domestic worker , where in 1924 she became a member of the “Central Association of Domestic Workers” and in 1927 of the SPD. She attended the Tinz folk high school . From 1928 she worked as an office assistant and later as a library assistant. After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists in 1933, Höger built a grocery store and at the same time was illegally active in the resistance against National Socialism . In 1940 she was arrested and sentenced by the People's Court for “preparation for high treason” to two and a half years in prison, which she served in the Cottbus prison.

After the Second World War , Höger worked as an employee at the Free German Trade Union Federation (FDGB) and in 1946 at the Berlin Magistrate . In the first Berlin election in 1946 , she was elected to the city ​​council of Greater Berlin until she left in 1950.
