Christine Ott (literary scholar)

Christine Ott (* 1972 ) is a German-Italian literary scholar and has been Professor of Italian and French Literature at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main since 2011 .

Live and act

Christine Ott attended the humanistic high school in Traunstein as well as in Udine and Cividale and graduated from high school in 1991. She studied in Eichstatt and Saint-Etienne Romance and German and in 2002 with a thesis on language reflection in poetry Eugenio Montale at the University of Heidelberg graduated , where she worked as a research assistant at the Romance Seminar 2000-2003. She then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Romance Philology at the University of Marburg until 2011 . After a one-year research stay in Paris funded by the German Research Foundation , he completed his habilitation in 2009 at the University of Marburg. Her habilitation thesis “Feinschmecker und Buchfresser. Food culture and literary incorporation as myths of modernity ”has been translated into several languages. A nine-month research fellowship at Harvard University followed .

In 2011 she was appointed professor for Italian and French literary studies at the Goethe University in Frankfurt. She turned down an offer at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg in 2016.

Since October 2013 she has been the editor of the German Dante Yearbook and a member of the board of the German Dante Society . She is also active as a reviewer for the German Research Foundation and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation .

Research priorities

Her research interests include the poetry of the 20th and 14th – 17th centuries. Century and the relationships between poetry and the visual arts, auto-fiction, self-comments of the early modern era as well as food culture, body concepts and gastronomy myths.
