The Christian guest houses Monbachtal non-profit GmbH (CGM) based in Bad Liebenzell is a holiday resort, family holiday and conference center of the Liebenzeller Mission .

location

The CGM are located about two kilometers outside of Bad Liebenzell in the Monbachtal residential area . The area through which the Monbach flows extends from Nagold, which is separated by the railway line, to the Monbachtal nature reserve bordering in the east, and has a Monbach-Neuhausen stop-off point for the Nagold Valley Railway .

history

The oldest of the three guest houses was a spa hotel at the beginning of the 20th century. The Stuttgart manufacturer Ernst Zimmermann bought the site in 1919 and used this spa hotel as a rest home for young people. With the support of the Christian Association for Youth Welfare Association founded for this purpose . V. Stuttgart, of which he was chairman, further buildings were added from 1924. At Easter 1939 the last Protestant youth camp took place under the direction of the later Bundestag President Hermann Ehlers . Sophie Scholl wrote in a letter from Ulm to her siblings from Ulm on July 26, 1940 that she was going to the Monbachtal. The constraints of the war events of the following years during the Third Reich changed the previous use. In 1942 the facilities of the Monbach valley were confiscated by the German Wehrmacht and an auxiliary hospital was set up, which in 1945 received the injured in the bombing raid on Pforzheim. It was not until 1951 that the association was able to resume its youth recreation work. With the construction of twelve holiday homes in 1967, a place to relax was also created for families. In 1969, in the year of the 50th anniversary, the Monbachtal received the status of a state-approved resort .

For financial reasons, the association held takeover talks with various organizations from 1970, until 1975 the Liebenzeller Mission became the new sponsor of the now named Ferien- und Bibelheim Monbachtal e. V. was. Under its first director, Karl Anderson, the building of the youth home in the upper valley was inaugurated in 1983. Soon the conference rooms were used for seminars and training courses. The annual working conference of the employees of the Liebenzeller community association has been held here since 1975 . Between 1979 and 1985 the seminar for further missionary education of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Evangelical Missions , today's Academy for World Mission , was headquartered here under the direction of George W. Peters . The Liebenzeller Mission has been organizing the annual teenage missions meeting (TMT ) with around 2000 visitors. At the end of the 1990s, the pastoral work begun by Karl Anderson, today's Initiative Pastoral Counseling Education (ISBB), was continued under its new head Reinhard Meier on the premises of the CGM . Between 2001 and 2003 Hanspeter Wolfsberger headed the House of Silence program . A small wooden chapel was donated as additional space. In 2002 the newest guest house could be inaugurated. From 2006 to 2011 the sisterhood of the Liebenzeller Mission offered pastoral care for guests under the name Monbach-Oase . The Liebenzeller Mission's education center has had its headquarters here since 2008 and the Liebenzell International University has been using lecture rooms for one of its master’s courses since 2014 .

Since October 2013, the previous association has been operating as Christian Guest Houses Monbachtal gGmbH , whose charitable work is also supported by donations. The CGM is a member of the Working Group of Protestant Conference and Guest Houses as well as the Federal Working Group for Family Recreation and, as a family holiday facility, co-sponsor of the Evangelical Family Recreation Foundation , which aims to support low-income families with grants.

In their time, their managers shaped both hospitality and appearance by promoting renovations and new buildings: after Karl Anderson, this was Hermann Decker from 1992 and Jürgen Höppner from 2000 to 2005. Armin Jans took over from Heinz Mack in 2012 after seven years in the management.

As a service, family holidays are organized in the summer months. The program content aims to focus on joie de vivre, quality of life and answering various life questions.

Under the motto Encountering life , service is combined with a biblical message. There are cycling and hiking trails, a water treading facility, a mini-golf facility that was replaced as GoDi-Golf in 2010 , a high- wire course, a meadow for beach volleyball with an adventure playground, a barbecue area and a petting zoo. The room of silence and a small wooden chapel offer opportunities for retreat . Another chapel was consecrated in July 2016, the first café chapel in Germany. It is spatially directly connected to the catering business.
