Hanspeter Wolfsberger (born September 4, 1948 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German theologian and pastor of the Evangelical Church in Baden . Wolfsberger was director of the Liebenzeller Mission for ten years and then, until his retirement, parish priest of the Betberg-Seefelden parish in Buggingen . To this day he is the head of the House of Reflection there and a well-known speaker and author.

Live and act

Wolfsberger grew up as the son of a book printer in Müllheim in the Markgräflerland . After school and the armed forces, he first studied mechanical engineering and came to the Siemens company in Nuremberg. At the age of 20 he began studying education and psychology. Up until that time he had little to do with the church until he came into contact with faith in God at a youth event held by a regional church community . He decided to risk a Christian life . During this time he read the first Christian books. The book In the Shadow of the Almighty: The Diary of Jim Elliot by Elisabeth Elliot gave him an initial impetus to change studies. He studied Protestant theology at the universities of Heidelberg and Tübingen . In 1973 he started his vicarage in Schnait in the Rems Valley. In 1975 he passed his first theological exam at the University of Tübingen . Parish positions in Bad Wildbad in the Black Forest and Staufen in Breisgau followed. Between 1987 and 1993 he was parish priest in Aldingen . In 1993 Wolfsberger accepted the position of director of the entire Liebenzeller Mission. He became a lecturer at the theological seminar of the Liebenzeller Mission , spiritual leader of today's Missionsberggemeinde and started with some of the members an evening service that was little known until then, with a part of worship characterized by praise songs. Already at this time a wish came true for him, one that he had had since his vicariate, not only to meet people from the pulpit, but to accompany them as a pastor and to be able to walk with them in steps of faith. Between 2001 and 2003, together with Pastor Evelyn Hauser, he led the House of Silence program with a separate small wooden chapel, which was donated in the premises of the Christian guest houses in Monbachtal in Bad Liebenzell .

The parish deacon Sieglinde Kamm, who Wolfsberger knows from many years of work in Aldingen and Bad Liebenzell, characterizes him as an unconventional, humorous, approachable person who stands up for others - what can cost him his strength, his time and part of his life, a pastor who reaches the hearts of the audience through engaging sermons.

From 2003 to June 2014 he was the parish priest in Betberg-Seefelden and since 2003 the director of the house of reflection there , a guest house used as a retreat , next to the prayer area, the church, which was founded in the 8th century AD by Iroschottic monks . Until his retirement he shared the pastoral position with his colleague Evelyn Hauser, who took over this position from July 2014. He continues to be the chairman of the supporting association “House of Reflection Betberg e. V. ". Since 2015 he has been the clearing officer of the German Evangelical Alliance .

To this day he is a sought-after speaker and publisher at many conferences and church services and a speaker at leisure and boat trips . From 1997 to 2013 he was a member of the executive board of the German Evangelical Alliance , from 2004 to 2013 a member of the editorial team of the quarterly magazine EiNS published by the German Evangelical Alliance , is the author of various books and writes articles in Christian magazines , e.g. B. Breathe a sigh of relief .
