Christof Lang

Christof Lang (born November 5, 1960 in Munich ) is a German television journalist and presenter .

Life

After graduating from the Ludwigsgymnasium in Munich in 1980 , he completed his community service at the Bavarian State School for the Deaf . In 1980 he began studying human medicine at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, and then switched to a major there a year later. From 1981 to 1988 he studied political science, modern history and communication science with a diploma. At the same time, he trained as an editor at the German School of Journalism .

From 1981 to 1988 he worked as a freelance journalist in the areas of print , news agencies , radio and television . In 1989, he moved to RTL Plus' regional studio in Munich as an editor . From 1990 to 1995 he was studio manager of the Munich regional studio and travel correspondent for Southeast Europe and Asia. The areas of application were in Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, the ČSFR, Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Russia, Japan, China, the Philippines and the USA. From 1995 to 1997 he was editor-in-chief for the news program RTL aktuell in Cologne .

In 1997 he became the studio manager at the US Bureau RTL Television, New York City . In this role he was on site during the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 and during the seven-hour live reporting he was repeatedly switched to his colleague Peter Kloeppel 's studio.

From January 2004 to December 2012 he was editor-in-chief and moderated the RTL Nachtjournal as successor to Heiner Bremer , alternating with Ilka Eßmüller .

On August 28, 2004, Christof Lang married his ZDF colleague Marietta Slomka in Schliersee in Upper Bavaria . In February 2013, they announced their split.

On January 1, 2013, he moved to Munich to the Landesstudio Süd of infoNetwork, a production company belonging to Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland , where he took over the management.
