Christof Spörk (born April 16, 1972 in Ligist , Styria ) is an Austrian musician and cabaret artist .

life and work

Christof Spörk studied political science , English, and Spanish at the Universities of Vienna , Valladolid ( Spain ) and the FLACSO in Santiago de Chile, as well as three semesters of jazz singing at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz . He did his doctorate on "Music and Politics in Cuba 1959 to 1999" with Heinrich Neisser (University of Vienna) and Elena Ostleitner (University of Music Vienna). In addition to the piano and the accordion , his main instrument is the clarinet . From 1999 to 2001 Spörk worked as a journalist for the magazine profil , among others , and had a teaching position for political science at the Vienna Latin America Institute .

From 1991 to 2005 he was clarinetist, singer and lyricist with the cabaret music group " Die Landstreich ", which was awarded the " Salzburger Stier " in 2003. With Landstreich Spörk released four CDs. Landstreich played a short "Premature Resurrection Tour" in 2016, 2017 and 2018 and made a guest appearance at the Wiener Konzerthaus for the first time in February 2019.

In 2002 Spörk founded the band Global Kryner together with Sebastian Fuchsberger . The first CD global.kryner stayed in the Ö3 charts for 42 weeks. The second CD krynology took second place in the Ö3 charts in the first week. In 2005 the Global Kryner won the Austrian qualification for the Song Contest in Kiev , but were eliminated in the semifinals. The group released six CDs with BMG, SonyBMG and Universal and performed in Austria, Liechtenstein, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, England, France, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Ukraine and Mexico. In October 2013 the Global Kryner said goodbye to their audience with the “Servus” tour.

In 2011 Christof Spörk made his debut as a music cabaret artist with his first solo program “Lieder der Berge”, which was awarded the Austrian Cabaret Prize in the promotion / program award category that same year and was shown on ORF in 2013 as part of the Hyundai Cabaret Days .

His second solo program, "Edelschrott", presented in 2013, named after a western Styrian mountain village, was awarded the 2014 Salzburg Bull Cabaret Prize. In March 2015, Christof Spörk received the German cabaret award "Silberner Stuttgarter Besen" for excerpts from "Ebony". In August 2015, his second program "Edelschrott" was broadcast on ORF 1 in the ORF summer cabaret series. His programs Ebony and At the end of the day were both shown in cabaret in the tower on ORF. In 2019 Spörk presented his fifth cabaret program "KUBA".
