Christoph Bochdansky

Christoph Bochdansky (* 1960 in Tulln ) is an Austrian puppeteer , set designer and director .

Life

Christoph Bochdansky grew up in Vorarlberg . From 1979 he studied stage design at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and in 1981 went to Bochum , where he completed the puppet theater college . After completing his training, he was a player in some puppet stages, including a. the puppet theater LILARUM . He then began to make his own pieces, which he has since performed at international festivals around the world. His productions always float in a grotesquely absurd, humorous space.

He is visiting professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart , department of puppet theater, and at the University of Drama "Ernst Busch" Berlin , department of puppetry. Bochdansky's work is characterized by a long-term collaboration with the puppet theater Wilde & Vogel , the puppet theater LILARUM and the Lindenfels west wing .

In 2005, his director in the production Das Konterfei by Steffi Oberhoff was awarded the Stuttgart Theater Prize.

Bochdansky lives and works in Vienna .
