Christoph Friedrich Elsner

Christoph Friedrich Elsner (born January 14, 1749 in Königsberg (Prussia) , † April 19, 1820 there ) was a German physician.

Life

The son of the master baker Friedrich Elsner studied at the University of Königsberg from 1766 . After studying medicine, he received his doctorate in medicine in 1774 and then became a doctor in the Bartenstein district in Bartenstein (East Prussia). In 1785 he received a call as a full professor at the medical faculty in Königsberg, where he became the first full professor in 1805.

In connection with this he was appointed medical councilor and in 1809 a government councilor. Elsnert he was Rector of the Alma Mater in the winter semesters 1791/92, 1795/96, 1799/1800, 1803/04 and 1807/08 and vice-rector in 1811/12.

His son Christoph Johann Heinrich Elsner (1777–1834) also gained importance.
