Christoph Gosepath

Christoph Gosepath (born April 28, 1961 in Mainz ) is a theater director (Christoph M. Gosepath) and psychiatrist and psychotherapist (Christoph Gosepath) in Berlin. He is the head of the artist group club tipping point and has his own practice in Berlin.

Live and act

Gosepath attended the ancient language grammar school Petrinum in Recklinghausen until he graduated from high school in 1980. After community service at the Bethanien Hospital in Hamburg-Eppendorf , he studied philosophy , German and Romance studies at the University of Hamburg (1982-84). After the intermediate examination, he moved to the Free University of Berlin and completed his master's degree in philosophy and general and comparative literature in 1989. He also studied human medicine (state examination in 1994, doctorate in 2002). During his medical studies he completed study visits to London, Hong Kong and New York.

Parallel to his studies, he worked as an intern at the Schauspielhaus Hamburg with Ernst Wendt and repeatedly at the Schaubühne Berlin as a personal assistant with Robert Wilson . In addition, he was involved in several productions of the studio stage at the Free University of Berlin. After completing his studies, he was employed as Peter Stein's assistant director at the Salzburg Festival (1994–1996). In 1994 he made his debut with his own directing at the Free University's studio stage with Richard Foreman’s “The Healing” . From 1995 to 1998 he was employed as an assistant director at the Schauspielhaus Bochum . He worked there with Leander Haussmann , Jürgen Kruse and Dimiter Gotscheff, among others . This was followed by his own directorial work, first at city theaters, later in the independent scene in Berlin and abroad, most recently as head of the artist group club tipping point in Berlin.

From 2000 to 2002 he was a scholarship holder of the Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart and in 2003 he was a scholarship holder of the Franco-German cultural exchange in Paris.

From 2002 to 2003 he worked as part of his specialist training at the Westphalian Center for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in Herten and from 2003 to 2009 in the department for psychiatry, psychotherapy and psychosomatics at the Evangelical Hospital Queen Elisabeth Herzberge in Berlin. From 2009 to 2010 he worked in the Department of Neurology and Geriatrics at the Elisabeth Hospital in Recklinghausen.

He has been a resident specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy in Berlin since 2011.
