Christoph Lundgreen

Christoph Lundgreen (* 1980 in Hanover ) is a German ancient historian .

Life and Academic Career

From 2000 to 2006 Christoph Lundgreen studied law, literature and history at the Free University of Berlin , the University College London (UCL) and the Humboldt University in Berlin . He completed his studies with a Magister Artium with distinction in the subjects of ancient history , modern history and sub-areas of law. Subsequently, he was a DFG scholarship holder until 2009 in the International Graduate School 625 "Institutional Orders, Writing and Symbols" at the TU Dresden and the École pratique des Hautes Études in Paris. During this time he also held a guest fellowship at the Max Weber College for cultural and social science studies in Erfurt. As part of a grant from the Gerda Henkel Foundation and the Elise and Annemarie Jacobi Foundation , he conducted research in the Commission for Ancient History and Epigraphy of the German Archaeological Institute in 2009 . In the same year Lundgreen was presented with a thesis on “Rules Conflicts in the Roman Republic. Validity and weighting of norms in political decision-making processes "on the Dr. phil. PhD with summa cum laude and the Diplôme national de docteur with très honorable avec félicitations. The doctorate took place as part of a co-tutèlle procedure at the TU Dresden with Martin Jehne and the EPHE , Paris with Jean-Louis Ferrary . As part of his habilitation in 2015, Lundgreen conducted research as a visiting scholar at the Department of Classics in Stanford and as a fellow of the Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship for experienced researchers from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the Universita degli studi Roma Tre . In 2018/19 he was a fellow at the Center of Hellenic Studies at Harvard University .

Lundgreen has been teaching at the TU Dresden since 2007 . From 2009 to 2012 he worked as a research assistant in the SFB 804 “Transcendence and Common Sense” at the TU Dresden under the direction of Martin Jehne . In 2012 he took over the position of academic assistant at the Chair of Ancient History . As part of the basic equipment of the ancient studies sub-project, he has been involved in research in Collaborative Research Center 1285 “Invectivity. Constellations and dynamics of degradation ”.

Lundgreen was a member of the board of the Mommsengesellschaft from 2013 to 2017 , as well as a member of the Steering Committee of the British Epigraphy Society . In 2016 he was appointed to Die Junge Akademie at the BBAW and Leopoldina in 2016, and he was elected speaker in 2018.

Christoph Lundgreen was awarded the Heinz Maier Leibnitz Prize in 2016.

In 2019 he completed his habilitation with the award of the Dr. phil. habil. and the venia legendi for ancient history. He was also in the Heisenberg Program of the DFG added.

In the winter semester 2019/20 he will be a visiting fellow at the Dipartimento di Civiltà e Forme del Sapere at the Università di Pisa .
