Christoph Ott (film producer)

Christoph Ott (* 1959 in Karlsruhe ) is a German film producer and film distributor . Since 2011 he has been head of distribution at NFP * together with Alexander and Stefan Thies .

Life

Christoph Ott was born in Karlsruhe in 1959 and grew up there. In 1979 he graduated from the Bismarck-Gymnasium in Karlsruhe . Even during school he worked as a ticket teller in the cinema. From 1979 to 1981 he completed an apprenticeship as a steel and concrete worker at the construction company Dyckerhoff & Widmann .

From 1981 to 1984 Ott was for the parts FTB theater director of arthouse cinemas Pali Darmstadt and Heli Giessen. He then worked for two years as head of distribution at the Munich Cosmos Film Distribution. Afterwards he was head of distribution at Filmwelt Verlei and then from 1989 to 1992 assistant to the managing director of Senator Film Verleih .

From 1992 to 1999, Ott was Vice President Distribution & Production at Buena Vista International . This was followed by two years as Director of Sales & Marketing at Senator Entertainment AG. At the same time, Ott ran the independent Ottfilm rental company in Berlin from 2001 to 2004.

In 2003 Christoph Ott switched to NFP * , where he was initially responsible for the marketing of the theatrical releases. Since 2011 he has been head of NFP distribution alongside Alexander and Stefan Thies .

Since 1997 Ott has been responsible for various feature films as a co-producer or producer. Occasionally he appeared in small supporting roles as an actor.
