Christoph Zobel (* 1499 in Würzburg ; † March 23, 1560 in Leipzig ) was a German lawyer .

Life

Christoph Zobel's father, Friedrich Zobel , was the mayor of Ickelheim . His wife was Agnes Gruse. Christoph Zobel studied law at the University of Leipzig and received his doctorate there . He then became princely counselor and professor of law at the University of Leipzig, which he remained until the end of his life. He was married to Anna Umwied von Reichenau. Together they had a son and two or three daughters. On March 28, 1560, Zobel died in Leipzig and thus his wife survived him. Zobel and his wife were buried in the Paulinerkirche in Leipzig ; their children put up a memorial plaque there. A well-known student of Zobel was his son-in-law Georg Menius, who published a summary of Christoph Zobel's works in 1560. In the years 1563, 1595 and 1614 this collection was reissued.
