Christoph von Hausen (born September 17, 1951 in Münster ; † November 7, 2008 ibid) was a German architect .

life and work

Christoph von Hausen was a son of the architect Max von Hausen . He studied architecture at the TU Delft , among others with Mario Botta . He was followed by his childhood friends Konrad Wohlhage and Rainer Maria Kresing, who had also been introduced to architecture by his father Max. After completing his diploma in Delft, Christoph von Hausen opened an architectural office in Münster and initially worked with Rainer Maria Kresing.

In 1986 he took part in the competition for the new building of the Münster city library . In 1989, together with Rainer Maria Kresing, he designed the conversion of the former Althoff department store on Salzstrasse for the Münster City Museum .

After the death of his father Max in 1995, Christoph von Hausen tried to continue the Münster architectural team. Seriously ill, he devoted himself to his father's legacy and legacy. Together with Gisela von Nuland in 2006 he published a monograph on his life and building work. In particular, he advocated the restoration and modernization of the Münster Theater in accordance with the listed buildings . He was a member of the Association of German Architects BDA and promoted young talent.

After a temporary recovery, he turned to local ecological building. He built residential houses and dedicated himself to the renovation of old buildings .

Christoph von Hausen died in 2008 and is buried in the Mauritz cemetery in Münster. He left behind two daughters from his first relationship in the Netherlands and two sons from his marriage to Alis von Hausen.
