Live and act

In 1696 he became a physician in Tennstedt , where he invented a toothbrush around 1700 and put it into circulation.
Works
In 1712 he moved to Erfurt to be able to devote himself better to his publication activities. He wrote his 50 or so works, mostly on popular medicine and mostly compilation, in German.
Hellwig had studied astrological and medical writings.
In 1700 Hellwig shortened the planetary table drawn up and calculated by the abbot for 312 years to one hundred years, namely from 1701 to 1800, and had the calendar printed in 1704. In 1720, the Erfurt publisher Weinmann gave the work the name "Hundred Years Calendar".
