Christoph von Loß the Younger (born April 13, 1574 in Pillnitz , † August 17, 1620 in Schleinitz ) was a Privy Councilor and court marshal at the court of the Saxon Elector. As Reichspfennigmeister of the Upper and Lower Saxon Imperial Circle, he also worked in the politics of the Holy Roman Empire .

Life and politics

Christoph von Loß studied at the universities of Leipzig and Jena Law . At the age of 23 he became court and judiciary and in 1602 a councilor. Between 1607 and 1611 von Loss was court marshal of the Elector Christian II. From 1606 he was a member of the Privy Council. After the death of his father in 1609 von Loß took over his office as Reichspfennigmeister of the Upper and Lower Saxony district.

Arts and Culture

Christoph von Loß was considered well-educated, cosmopolitan and interested in culture. He was particularly committed to the musical life at the Dresden court. He contributed to the rebuilding of the organ in the Dresden Palace Chapel and to the reorganization of the Electoral Saxon court orchestra. His commitment also contributed to the fact that Hans Leo Hassler was appointed chamber organist in Dresden in 1608 and that Heinrich Schütz came to Dresden in 1615 .
