Martina Schattkowsky

Martina Schattkowsky (born July 17, 1953 in Cunersdorf ) is a German historian .

Life

Martina Schattkowsky completed a degree in history and German studies at the University of Rostock between 1972 and 1977 , from which she graduated with a degree in history. She then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Economic History of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR until 1991. In the meantime , she did her doctorate in 1983 on the subject of “The Cistercian Monastery Altzella (1162–1540). Studies on the organization and administration of monastic property ” . From 1992 to 1998 Schattkowsky worked as a research assistant in the Max Planck working group East Elbe manor as a socio-historical phenomenon at the University of Potsdam . There she completed her habilitation in 2001 with a paper on the subject of “Between manor, residence and empire. The lifeworld of the electoral nobleman Christoph von Loß auf Schleinitz (1574–1620) .

From 1999 until her retirement in 2019, Schattkowsky was head of the history department at the Institute for Saxon History and Folklore. V. (ISGV) in Dresden . In addition, she has been teaching as a private lecturer at the Institute for History at the Technical University of Dresden since 2002 , where she was appointed adjunct professor in December 2008 .

Research activity

In her research, Schattkowsky mainly deals with the Saxon regional history , the history of rural society and the nobility in the early modern period, and the economic history of the Cistercians .

She is the scientific director of the long-term project Saxon Biography .
