Christopher Bailey

Christopher Paul Bailey , CBE (born May 11, 1971 in Yorkshire , England ) is a British fashion designer who worked for Burberry from 2001 to 2018 .

Life

Bailey studied at the University of Westminster in London until 1990 . In 1994 he graduated from the Royal College of Art with a Masters and then designed women's fashion for Donna Karan in New York. Poached by Tom Ford , Bailey worked as a senior designer for Gucci in Milan from 1996 to 2001 .

From 2001 he worked as the creative director of the British label Burberry . As Chief Creative Officer since 2009 he has been responsible for the multimedia presence, the brand image and the design of advertising campaigns. Between mid-2014 and mid-2016, he also held the position of CEO in the company, which he eventually handed over to Marco Gobbetti .

In recognition of his achievements, Bailey was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the Royal College of Art in 2003.

Bailey is married to British actor Simon Woods ; the two raise two daughters.

In late October 2017, Bailey announced that he would be leaving Burberry in late 2018 after over 17 years.
